Ride Thoughts with Brandon Hardt

Ride Thoughts with Brandon Hardt

Hey everyone, my name is Brandon Hardt.

I'm mostly a long-form content creator on YouTube, and I recently moved to Florida after living in the Northeast for most of my life. I'm a big Philly sports fan (GO Eagles & Phillies!).

I've been riding for about 20 years now and love Harley-Davidsons—though I started out on a GSX-R and ZX-14. I'm currently riding a ‘21 Street Glide Special and a Sportster Bobber while hunting for a Vicla-style Deluxe or Road King to build.

I'm trying to bring some fun and fresh perspective to the older Harley community with my YouTube channel. We definitely need more younger riders out there on Harley-Davidsons!

Y’all stay safe and keep the rubber side down.

What was your first bike, and how did it feel to ride it?
My first bike was a 2005 Suzuki GSX-R 600. I definitely should not have bought the bike with zero riding experience, so I was honestly scared to death to ride since I really didn't know what I was doing at the time.

How would you describe the feeling of being on the open road?
It feels free. All of your cares and worries seem to disappear, and your mind is completely clear.

What advice would you give to someone just starting out riding?
Take your time, learn the basics, and start on something you feel comfortable riding. You can always upgrade in the future when your skills and riding capability improve.

What does being part of the riding community mean to you?
It means the world to me. I grew up in the Northeast and have moved to both Charleston, SC, and Clearwater, FL, without knowing a single person. It's safe to say I've met most of my close friends through riding experiences, and when you ride, you're never really alone.

Do you prefer riding solo or with a group, and why?
It depends on my mood. If I want to clear my head, I'll ride alone. I love riding with small groups of 4-5 bikes the best, but I'm not a big fan of larger group rides.

How has riding changed the way you view life?
Riding is inherently dangerous, but it really forces you to look at life with the realization that it's short, and taking risks is always worth it. You're not really living if you aren’t taking a risk here and there.

What’s your go-to piece of riding gear?
The LTR 2.0 riding pants are my absolute favorite, and I even wear them sometimes when I'm not riding.

What bike is at the top of your wish list right now?
I'm currently looking to build a Vicla-style Softail Deluxe or Road King.

What’s your favorite season to ride in, and why?
I love riding in early spring before the 90+ degree Florida summers.

What's your dream road trip destination?
I would love to do a full cross-country ride one day, from Florida to California.
