TLDR: Size up if you have bigger legs, armour inserts could be better.
This is my first ever experience with NBT, and I am surprised. I got these on black friday at a discount to give them a try, as they are mid-priced compared to some other brands.
For reference, I am 6'1 200lb, athletic build, and wear 32x32 in regular jeans. This pair i sized up to 34x32 for my quads and calves. It's skin tight on the legs but not constricting and will need a belt as expected. I do wish they were looser because they are a little tight around the knees and on a bike, I can see it perhaps being an issue for longer rides. Do what I did and size up if you have bigger legs.
The material is thick (expected), a bit stiff, and not the stretchiest for swinging a leg over. But I trust that it would protect me in a slide. However, the armour is thin and flimsier than I would like. I will probably buy some other ones to use with these pants. The crotch zipper is great, the pocket button snaps are decent, but the knee pocket zipper is a little finicky. Time will tell how those hold up.
Overall, for the price I paid, I am pretty happy with what I got, but at full price, I would expect a little better. Nonetheless, I will wear these and depending on how well they last, I may buy another pair.
Just received my Guardian cargo pants and I have to say very impressed . Love the style and the fit. As a slender male, the fit is great. I would say though it you are one with big calves or thick thighs, the slim fit may be a bit too slim. For me, its perfect but football linesmen body types will have a hard time. Crossing fingers I never have to test the abrasion resistance of these pants but the material seems good for unintentional city speeds (less than 50mph) accidental get-offs with shorter slide times. Super comfortable to wear everyday and when off the bike, cant really tell these are motorcycle protective pants. I would order again for sure. On a side note, the first pair I ordered had a small defect but NBT took great care to quickly replace. Thanks for that!
These pants exceeded my expectations. They’re actually more attractive in person than the photos suggest. They feel like a high-quality safety product, and the included pads add protection without unnecessary bulk, so the pants still look completely “normal” when worn.
The cut is a true slim fit, which works well for my build. That said, my only feedback for NBT—particularly for the U.S. market—would be to consider a slightly more accommodating fit option in the leg area to make sizing easier for a broader range of customers. I’m impressed enough that I fully expect to purchase a second pair in the other color.
As a career customer of cycle gear products and more specifically street and steal branded clothing for the last 7 years, I gotta say I’m very impressed by NBT right now.
My girlfriend shared the link with me to check out these products and I ordered us both matching sets of these pants over Black Friday for her birthday.
I’ve taken them out to ride a couple times and was hoping they would be warmer then what I was wearing for these colder winter months and they did not disappoint.
I feel much more confident, secure, and comfortable in these pants then any riding pants I’ve ever wore before. I seen some people not a huge fan of the pads, I personally love them. I think it’s just enough protection without getting bulky and the pattern design keeps it where air can still get through. Giant memory foam pads from street steal gear always bulky and sweaty, rides rough and tight plus god forbid you ever have to scratch your leg with them on.
These pants really meet the whole “comfort” as advertised goal while staying protected.
Absolutely love them and will definitely be a customer for life. Haven’t dropped a bike in many years but truly feel and believe it wouldn’t be a problem if I did with these on.
Usually wear a 36/32 but I ordered a 38/34 cause I wanted to make sure I had room to fit my sidearm as I always carry off duty working in law enforcement. I’m very glad I did, they do run snug and stiff, maybe a tad small from regular clothes sizes with all the layers of protection built in.
I love the cargo pockets, heavy duty buttons and attention to detail down to the ease of pad inserts and tiny pocket on the left side.
Not a huge fan of the NBT belt just cause I prefer a sturdy tactical belt but they were stretchy and felt like a quality material when paired with these pants.
Happy and eager to keep riding with these new pants. My girl and I are both very happy and satisfied.
Ordered a 30/32 like what I normally wear for jeans. Ended up being too big but was able to swap then out for 28/30s with vary little hassle. New pair fits great and feels good. Havent had to use them for protection thankfully.
