Who tests and certifies motorcycle gear for CE ratings?
Independent certification labs that specialize in motorcycle safety equipment are the only organizations authorized to certify products like NBT’s as CE certified. These labs follow the established European safety standard EN 17092.
Does NBT test its products for CE performance?
Yes. At NBT we rigorously test our gear in development and production to ensure it meets or exceeds CE standards. However, only an independent, accredited certification lab can officially certify a product as CE-rated.

What’s the difference between A, AA, and AAA certification?
CE ratings use a sliding scale from A up to AAA. A provides essential protection for lighter rides with reinforcement at key hot spots like shoulders, elbows, and knees. AA offers advanced protection for most road riding, adding hot spot reinforcement to the hips for broader lower-body coverage. AAA is the highest level, designed for the toughest conditions with maximum defense across shoulders, elbows, knees, hips, torso, and seat.
