Ride Thoughts with Sam (ssrides)

Ride Thoughts with Sam (ssrides)

April 27, 2026

Hey! I’m Sam — The face behind @s.srides

I make skits, post vlogs, and try not to break the internet too much in LA

I’m always chasing that feeling you only get on a bike whether it’s pushing limits, learning new skills, or just trying not to look like a total idiot while popping a wheelie.

It’s never about being the fastest.

It’s about getting better every ride and having fun doing it.

•How would you describe the feeling of being on the open road?

For me, riding is freedom, focus, and a reminder to stay present. No distractions. Just you, the machine, and the road.

•What was your first bike, and how did it feel to ride it?

My first real bike was my Kawasaki Z500, and I had never ridden anything before that.

I remember being pretty nervous at first, but at the same time I couldn’t wait to get started.

As soon as I got on and started riding, that feeling of nerves turned into excitement. It felt like I had just unlocked something new.

From that point on, I was learning and progressing as much as I could.

•What’s a skill or habit you think every rider should develop?

Every rider should spend time learning real control in a safe environment.

Wheelies, burnouts, or just pushing the bike a bit, all help you understand throttle, clutch, and braking on a deeper level. That kind of control translates into being a better, more confident rider.

•What advice would you give to someone just starting out riding?

Just ride your own ride. Don’t get caught up in trying to be the fastest. Take your time, learn the bike, and build your confidence.

•How do you stay safe while riding?

NBT gear all day! Full protection is a given, but I also ride smart. Knowing my limits, reading the road, and controlling the bike first. Gear keeps you alive, focus keeps you alive longer

•What's your favorite memory from a ride?

Honestly, as crazy as it sounds, my favorite memory was my first wreck. I laid the bike down on my foot ; Not only did I chew through the stator cover and dump all my oil on the street, but the weight of the bike actually broke my foot.

What blew me away, though, was how fast total strangers rushed over to help. People stopped what they were doing just to make sure I was okay. Even after the mess was cleared, every biker that rode by pulled over to check on me. It was a wild crash, but it showed me just how big and awesome the riding community really is

•What do you look for in riding gear? Style, comfort, or protection?

Style, comfort, and protection, all of it. Safety first, but I want to look and feel good too. My NBT hoodie and cargo pants let me ride hard and still step off looking chill.

And yeah… I look dope

•What’s your favorite season to ride in, and why?

It’s always riding season in LA , but if I had to pick, I’d say spring, that sweet spot around

75–85° makes every ride feel effortless.

•Do you prefer riding solo or with a group, and why?

Riding with my friends is a blast, especially when we’re all on coms. Every ride turns into an adventure.

But there’s something special about hitting the road solo too. Just you, your bike, and your music. It’s a different kind of connection where you really get to clear your head and enjoy the moment.

•How has riding shaped your identity?

Riding definitely brought out a new side of me. I’ve always been obsessed with cars . I’ve done my own turbo swaps, and I daily drive a manual 370Z ; But nothing compares to the feeling of being on a bike.

It’s taught me to appreciate nature and scenery on a whole new level. The things you notice on two wheels are completely different than when you’re behind a car wheel.

Riding made me more aware, more present, and just more me.
